The Alleged Unexplained Wealth of Comelec Chairman Andres Bautista is Now Heard in The Senate

Ito na ang hinihintay ng sambayanang Filipino - ang imbistigahan ang ill gotten wealth ni Comelec Chairman Andres Bautista. Ngayon sinisimulan na ang imbistigasyon. The Senate investigating panel is headed by Senator Chiz Escudero kasama ang tatlo pang Senators: Grace Poe, Tito Sotto and Franklin Drillon.

Sa hearing na ito malalaman natin kung sino sa mga Senators ang maka-Bautista at Dilawan. Malalaman natin kung ang magiging resulta ng hearing ay lalabas kung ano ang tunay at totoo sa sinasabing unexplained wealth of Mr. Bautista. 

Habang pinakikinggan ko ang simula ng hearing nalaman ko na - para maimbistigahan ang bank secrecy deposit ng isang government official and employee - it needs court order. 

Bumalik sa alaala ko ang mahalagang papel ng Ombudsman because Ombudsman can compel AMLC to examine the bank records of a depositor for possible violation of the Anti-Money Laundering Law and with prior notice to the depositor. 

So depositor should give his consent to such intrusion by signing the last paragraph of the Statement of Assets, Liability and Net Worth which authorizes the Ombudsman to look into his financial records. Katulad sa nangyari noon kay former Chief Justice Corona.

Naging viral si Bautista online at naging laman ng iba't ibang newspapers at naging usapan sa mga TV networks ng ating bansa at iba pang mga Radio Broadcasting stations ng bansa.

Ano ang halaga ng SALN para sa isang opisyal ng Gobyerno? Kabayan, naalaala niyo pa ba ang nangyari kay former Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona?  He was found guilty by the Senate of violating Article II of the Articles of Impeachment. 

On December 12, 2011, he was impeached by the House of Representatives. On May 29, 2012, he was found guilty by the Senate of violating Article II of the Articles of Impeachment filed against him pertaining to his failure to disclose his statement of assets, liabilities and net worth to the public.
