Your Love Will Be Persisting in My Heart Forever

Sapao Beach, Guiuan, Eastern Samar
I was alone in the beach nearby
When I got scented of a perfume
Which was familiar to me.

I heard footsteps and a chilly voice
My head whirled and I saw you
Upended behind me with your attire
Of the pearly gown you wore in our
First night 30 years ago on our honeymoon.

You smirked: your smile dimpled your face
So I longed for you
And touched you with my thirsty lips
And we danced with the sea spray
That hugged our feet relaxing
On the sands beneath a cloudy sky.

Heart: Photo Credits: Yahoo Search Online Images
But thereafter you disappeared slowly
You slipped from my hands
And had joined the thin air
Like bubbles you mixed with those clouds
Leaving me with your sweet fragrance.

Smelled Sweet
The sun sank and you’re gone with the breeze
But your love will be persisting in my heart forever!

Camera and Its Magic

Living Memory
It is amusing
How mirrors and light
Makes people believe in mementos
Printed on dazzling surface:

Picked, planned
Cloning each moment of joys and laughter
With just a rapid sound of a button
Almost as precise as the human eye;

Sample of Cameras: Credits to Google Search Online

And I am left behind alone
Surprised staring at you
This is a piece of you, a copy of your face
Caught in this frame I am holding

Is this all I remember of you?
I had to rely on another eye, not my own:
Invention of mirrors and light
To aid me recall what my heart cannot?

at lagi nating ipinangangalandakan

Naaalala ko ang hirap ng nakaraan, I cried looking at my feet and hands wounded; too painful I couldn’t bear.

Sometimes I asked God, why it happened to me?

Hinagpis Ng Isang Bayani

Hinagpis Ng Isang Bayani

BY PAULINO O. PRUEL
Posted by Bulatlat

Kay sarap pakinggan
Tagos sa puso't isipan
Tawag sa iyo Bayani ng bayan
Sa panahong kasalukuyan

Hinahangaan sa iyong katatagan
Nilisan mo ang sariling bayan
Hanap ay magandang kapalaran
Sa ibayong dagat makikipagsapalaran

Lungkot sa pamilya handang labanan
Haharapin anumang kagipitan
Makamit lamang magandang kinabukasan
Kapalit ay lumbay at kalungkutan

Ang sobrang pagod sa maghapon
Buti-butil na pawis sa katawan
Sigaw at pasakit ng among pinaglilingkuran

Dagdag-pasakit, buwanang sahod nabibitin
Minsan ginagawang ATM, after three months

Our Beloved Grand Child Daniela: Ang Munting Anghel Ng Aming Buhay

Hubad at wala pang malay
Siya’y bulaklak ng buhay...

Ang haplos ng kanyang mga kamay
At tamis ng kanyang halik at dighay
Sa t’wing siya’y naglalambing
Walang matamis na maihahambing...

Kaya dapat lamang na siya’y mahalin
Alagaan ng husto at pagyamanin
Siya’y bunga ng pag-iibigan
Ng dalawang pusong nagmahalan!

Congratulations to Our New Chief Justice of The Supreme Court, Teresita Leonardo-De Castro

Our New Chief Justice of The Supreme Court: Teresita Leonardo-De Castro
Congratulations to our new Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Philippines CJ Teresita Leonardo - De Castro.

On the day of the interview by JBC on August 16, 2018, Associate Justice De Castro was exactly 69-year, 10 months and 8 days old. Most of us Filipinos knew that former Associate Justice De Castro is highly qualified to become the new CJ. Now as the new CJ - she will enjoy her position for at least less than two months because she is on her way to retire when she reach the 70-year old in October 8 this year.

Hold Up Ito: Walang Papalag

“Walang papalag! Hold up ‘to! ”

100% I agree with that.

The Smoke of Controversy

Cigar Butts

You can’t hide from me
I know all about you
You’re a seasoned star
Had been the smoke
Of controversy for many years
Cherished by million of your fans
You’re so gorgeous with your apparel
Of a white gown that covered
Your soft-slender-beautiful body…

One day, your sweet scent wraith
Through the place, like a haunting
And your fans grabbed you
Held you tight around your neck
They kissed your lips and cheeks
Leaving them with luminous spits…

You had complaint, wanting to stop them
Though they just ignored your wish
For them you’re their asset…

You’re yelling for help but nobody came
And in great pains, you cried
Then you fell down unconscious...

The hour altered, dusk became dawn
You woke up and screamed so hard
Seeing yourself lying in the pool of mud
With those filthy and ugly faces
Your own effigy, those sizzling cigarette butts!

Why Poverty is Distinct? The Truth Hurts

Cheating, too much Politicking, addiction to Drugs, addiction to Gambling, addiction to Alcohol, and Corruptions among our Officials are some of the many reasons to mention why poverty is distinct.

Poverty injects pains and hardships to people and country. This condition hovers over many lands, and there are children who are malnourished, cannot attend school, dying for food and no shelter to house them. This is a social phenomenon that cannot be prevented alone through unending debate between our officials and the feuding politicians.

Cheaters are not discouraged because no one stands up to be called upon to account for their actions. Most of us are tolerating and disregarding these wrongs, so cheaters are continuing cheating.

In politics, Politicians are fighting for power and are using the innocent masses to acquire it. And the one who are paying the price for this are the poor people and the country.

Addiction to drugs like cocaine, solvent, shabu, marijuana and other substances or liquid drugs is an epidemic disease happening in the countryside. It victimizes our children and would kill their dreams as well. That even the highest authorities are getting the difficulty to stop the problem.

We cannot stop poverty but we can reduce it. We should stop from cheating, stop too much politicking; go away from drug, gambling and alcohol. Be a God-fearing citizen. Forget our differences and unite to cure our country of its debilitating ills.

We should stop bickering among ourselves and leveling accusations against our leader that will only add to the chaos, tension and fear. Limit demonstrations and rallies, all that we do is to add to the fear of investors depriving ourselves of the investments needed to kick-start the economy.

Our officials and the feuding politicians should unite and co-operate to give the people good governance. They should show vision, unity, determination, responsibility and motivation. If they do that, they can reduce poverty as well as reduce drug menace in the countryside and eradicate corruption from our country as well!

Social Security System (SSS) Promotes Social Justice and Provide Meaningful Protection to Members and Their Families

The concept of social security evolved from an age-old search of man for protection against poverty which breeds grave social ills that not only threaten his survival but also erode his sense of human dignity. It, therefore, becomes the duty of the State to operate a mechanism that would provide such protection to its people.

Republic Act 8282

Republic Act 8282 is all about the SSS mandate and the declaration of policy that says “It is the policy of the State to establish, develop, promote and perfect a sound and viable tax-exempt social security system suitable to the needs of the people throughout the Philippines which shall promote social justice and provide meaningful protection to members and their families against the -
  • hazards of disability,
  • sickness, maternity,
  • old-age,
  • death
  • and other contingencies resulting in loss of income
  • or financial burden
Towards this end, the State shall endeavor to extend social security protection to workers and their beneficiaries.”

History of SSS in Philippines

On January 26, 1948, former President Manuel A. Roxas proposed a bill seeking to establish a social security system for wage earners and low-salaried employees. This was recommended to Congress in his State of the Nation Address.

After the death of President Roxas, former President Elpidio Quirino created the Social Security Study Commission on July 7, 1948. The creation of the commission was his first official act upon his assumption to office. Based on the report of the Study Commission, a draft of the Social Security Act was submitted to Congress.

In 1954, Representative Floro Crisologo, Senators Cipriano Primicias and Manuel Briones introduced bills based on the report of the Social Security Study Commission in the House of Representatives and in the Senate. These bills were consolidated and enacted into Republic Act (RA) 1161, better known as the Social Security Act of 1954

Aims of Social Security System

The SSS aims to develop and promote a Viable, Universal and Equitable social security protection scheme through World-class service and to institutionalize a corporate culture that instills the core values of Trust, Empowerment and Teamwork.
  • Viable – means that social security protection shall be provided through generations.
  • Universal – means that social security protection shall be provided to all residents of the Philippines, citizens and non-citizens alike, regardless of creed, gender, age, geographic location and economic status, especially the disadvantaged, so that no one will become a burden to society.
  • Equitable – means fair and uniform coverage shall be made available to all. Benefits shall be meaningful and able to sustain a decent standard of living.
  • World-class Service – means the highest standard of social security service shall be provided to ensure total member satisfaction such as prompt, accurate and courteous.
However, the Social Security Act was objected by business and labor groups, resulting to a deferment of its implementation. In 1957, amendatory bills were presented in Congress. These bills were the bases of RA 1792, which amended the original Social Security Act. On September 1, 1957, the Social Security Act of 1954 or the Social Security Law (SS Law) was finally implemented, marking a significant milestone in the social security program.

Compulsory Coverage of SSS

With the implementation of the SS Law, the Philippine government also adopted the social insurance approach to social security, covering the employed segment of the Labor Force in the private sector.

In 1993, household helpers earning at least 1,000ph a month were included in the compulsory coverage of employees. In 1980, some groups of self-employed persons were also required to contribute to the social security fund from which benefits are paid upon the occurrence of a contingency provided by the law.

Self-employed farmers and fisher-folks were included in the program in 1992 while workers in the informal sector earning at least 1,000ph a month, such as ambulant vendors and watch-your-car-boys were covered in 1995. In the present - the Kasambahay (Household Helpers) are also covered with the SSS program.

The SSS administers two programs

The Social Security System (SSS) administers social security protection to workers in the private sector. On the other hand, the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) takes care of workers in the public sector. The SSS administers two programs, namely:
  • The Social Security Program
  • The Employee’s Compensation (EC) Program
Social security provides replacement income for workers in times of death, disability, sickness, maternity and old-age. On May 1, 1997, former President Fidel V. Ramos signed Republic Act 8282, further strengthening the SSS. Also known as the Social Security Act of 1997, it amended RA 1161, providing for better benefit packages, expansion of coverage, flexibility in investments, stiffer penalties for violators of the law, condonation of penalties of delinquent employers and the establishment of a voluntary provident fund for members.

Double compensation to the worker

The employee’s compensation program, started in 1975, provides double compensation to the worker when the illness, death or accident occur during work-related activities. EC benefits are granted only to members with employers other than themselves.

Social Security System used to administer the Medicare program for hospitalization and other medical needs of the private sector workers; and the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), for the public sectors workers.

However, with the passage of RA 7875 or the National Health Insurance Act of 1995, SSS and GSIS transferred the administration of the Medicare program to the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) for an integrated and comprehensive approach to health development.

Laughter is The Best Medicine Ever! Chewing Gums From Condoms

condom is a barrier device most commonly used during sexual intercourse to reduce the probability of pregnancy and spreading sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhea, syphilis, and HIV. It is put on a man’s erect penis and physically blocks ejaculated semen from entering the body of a sexual partner. But condoms have other uses – believe it or not!

Filipinos are Often The Object of Laughter

How often we, Filipinos become the object of laughter? And those incidents sometimes have been brought to forum groups as debate subjects. People who belittled Filipinos do not
realized that Filipinos have some unique ways to show vengeance in a very friendly manner without hurting people – to tell them that never mess with Filipinos.

Don't Take This Seriously - Just a Healthy Joke

Read and listen on the conversation of two people inside a fast-food restaurant. By the way, don’t take this seriously. This is just a healthy joke. At a fast-food restaurant a Filipino is enjoying his hearty breakfast: coffee, croissants, toast, butter, jam and etc. when an American friend who was chewing a gum came around, sits next to him and started an unwanted conversation.

The Conversation Begins
"You Filipinos eat the whole bread?”
“Of course,” replied the Filipino.
(Blowing bubble with his gum) the American friend said, “We don’t. In the States, we only eat what’s inside. The crusts, we collect them and put them in a container then recycled, re-baked them into croissants and sell them to the Philippines. D’ya eat jam with the bread?
“Of course,” the Filipino answered smiling.
(Chuckling and crackling his gum between his teeth) the American friend said, “We don’t. In the States, we eat fruit for breakfast, put all the peels, seeds and leftovers into containers, recycled them into jam and sell them to the Philippines.”

Chewing Gums from Condoms

"Do you have sex in America ?” asked the Filipino.
“Of course we do,” replied the American friend.
“And what do you do with the condoms?” the Filipino asked again.
“Throw them away of course,” the American friend answered quickly.
The Filipino replied, “We don’t. In Philippines, we put them into a container, recycled them, melt them down into chewing gum and sell them to America!”

If Children Ruled The World, There Were No Heinous Crimes

Many people believe that children are never greedy and never tries to cheat as the same as adults. If they ruled the world, there were no heinous crimes, no impeachments of presidents, chief justices, no martial law to be imposed, no demonstrations and rallies and no child abuse. However, kids can be much crueler than adults too in many ways.

Images of Heinous Crimes: Credits to Yahoo Search
If children ruled the world, there were no heinous crimesThe world would not become a den of several criminal crimes such as war, graft and corruption, terrorism, rebellion, cheating, drug addiction, rape, smuggling, kidnapping, sex slavery and prostitution, child abuse, spousal abuse and other heinous crimes.

There will be no impeachment trials of presidents, chief justices of supreme court like what was happened in the PhilippinesThere will be no martial law to be imposed to a certain country as there will be no rebellion acts against any governments. There will be no demonstrations and rallies to check the wrongdoings of government officials.

If children ruled the world, they can be much crueler than adults. The world would be like a big trash pile because children don’t put anything away. The world would become messier and full of lost things. And the rate of development would be slower because children want something just for fun and are apt to ignore something related to world development.

Images of Children: Credits to Yahoo Search
If children ruled the world, adults would feel lonely. The world would experience more humorous trial and error because children don’t think as carefully as adults do. Children might ignore adults also because adults don’t have power. Adults would feel lonely and some of them might try to commit suicide due to their situation. And the world would be a disaster unless an adult were behind every child. If the children were in the congress and senate they would talk just about funny things and they would play all the time.

If children ruled the world, the world would become rough and wildIf they were bank directors they would spend all the money on games, candies or parties. Adults would have to work not to receive money but toys, candies and chocolate. Most school classes would disappear. The world would become rough and wild. And no one would like to be adults and parents would feel very sad! What an awful image of the world! But what if the time comes that the world is ruled by children? Who will oppose it to happen?

EDSA People Power is no longer the music of Filipinos
