It all began at Senate Probe on Rice Smuggling: Mayor Duterte became a Political Rock Star in the World. That was on February 4, 2014, when former Mayor of Davao City, has attended the Senate hearing on Rice Smuggling. He was one of the resource invited personalities by the Senate for the said probe on Rice Smuggling in the Philippines that includes in Davao City, Cebu City, Manila as well as in Cagayan. 

During the Senate probe, Mayor Duterte on his opening remarks may sinabi siyang kung pakikinggan ng bawa't opisyal ng gobyerno sa panahon ng Noynoy administration ay puwede maging malakas na sampal sa kanila. He said, I quote "The trouble with us in gov't. is that we talk too much, act too slow and do too little. Let me ask, don't we?"

During the 2016 Presidential debate in Mindanao, hosted by Mike Enriques and Jessica Sojo - binigyan ni Sen Meriam Defensor ng napakataas na pagkilala at paghanga si Mayor Duterte na ikinatuwa ng lahat ng mga nanonood doon lalu na po ang mga supporters ni Mayor Duterte. Sabi niya, I quote "Sa lahat ng mga opisyal ng gobyerno, si Mayor Duterte lamang ang nakita ko na totoong nagtratrabaho para labanan ang korapsyon sa bansa."

During that grand campaign, may sinabi si Mayor Duterte na para sa akin ay isa sa mga rason kung bakit siya ang pinili ng mga nakakaraming Filipino na maging presidente ng bansang Pilipinas. He said, I quote "I am here because the Filipinos are suffering in the hands of corrupt government officials and its failure to protect and provide the needs of its people."

Dagdag pa niya, "I am here to correct and establish orders in my beloved country. Many will stop me, many will go against me and many even try to kill me because my principle and dignity over on how to fix this country."

He also said, "This will be my last candidacy due to my age. But if God bless me with your help, I might change this country that you all be proud of and my legacy will extend far beyond next Filipino generation."
