If I were the president, I will choose the best for CJ position from the three Associate Justices namely: Bersamin, Reyes and Peralta.
ReplyDeleteI did not include Associate Justice Teresita Leonardo-De Castro and Judge Tejano Ang on my list for the following reasons: On the day of the interview, Associate Justice De Castro is exactly 69-year, 10 months and 8 days old. After 1 month and 22 days, she will retire on October 8, 2018 when she reach the 70-year-old. Yes. She is very qualified to become the new CJ.
And if I appointed her as the new CJ - she will enjoy it for only 52 days because she is on her way to retire in October 8 this year and again the JBC will again search for the new CJ position which is for me not appropriate and reasonable at all.
For Judge Virginia Tejano Ang, based from my observation during the live interview - she failed my expectation. Besides she has so many pending cases filed against her which she insisted during the interview that they were not cases yet since they're still on investigating stages. I felt it that her experiences and knowledge are not yet enough to vye for CJ position.
